thk shw caged ball lm guide

Schaumburg, IL (January 9, 2003) - THK has developed its next generation of the Type HRW, the new Type SHW with wide rails and a low center of gravity now features THK's own patented Caged Ball™ Technology.

THK's Caged Ball Technology works by isolating each of the load-carrying re-circulating elements in their LM guides in an individual cage or pocket. This cage prevents ball-to-ball or roller-to-roller contact and the associated friction. The cage also acts as a reservoir for lubricants, eliminating the need for an external lubricating system. THK Caged Ball Technology systems also offer higher speed capabilities and, with 1/10th the torque deviation of standard LM guides, greatly improved positioning accuracy. The specific benefits include increased speed and accuracy of motion, decreased noise levels, larger load capacity, long-term, maintenance-free operation, and reduced sources of contamination.

The Type SHW can be used in a variety of applications in any position, as each row of balls is arranged at a 45-degree angle. As a result, the same load rating is applied to the bearing in all four directions (radial, reverse radial, and both lateral directions).

THK's exclusive circular arc groove design is also built into the Type SHW. This eliminates mounting misalignment and allows for high-precision, smooth linear movement.
